NEXT SMART Chain, MAIN NET release v1.0 (Orion)

Orion is the first release of NEXT Smart Chain. Many decentralized apps are road mapped (the chain is fully backward compatible with ERC20 & BEP20 so that any decentralized application can be copied across).
Examples are our hybrid Exchange (next.exchange) which is about to complete its major overhaul to massively improve the UI and run on the new chain, also full support of all tokens is integrated. Why is the release of the mainnet called Orion?
Before releasing mainnet, we performed intensive testing with our loyal community members to check if all features (like staking and rewards) were operating exactly as designed. After a few months of testing and final sign-off, mainnet was scheduled to go live at February 22th, 2022. In Greek mythology, Orion was a hunter who chased the Pleiades, the seven daughters of the Titan god Atlas and the ocean nymph Pleione. The Pleiades is a star cluster in the constellation Taurus. Therefore, we decided that Orion is the perfect name for the first release of NEXT Smart Chain — Starting from skretch and hunting to become the new Taurus in the market. We believe we have the technological advantage and superior product set to provide a significantly better alternative blockchain experience.
We address the existing problems in the processing cost of expensive slow blockchains. DeFi is experiencing a lot of interest, and hence, it is important to lower the transaction costs on the underlying blockchain. This is needed to support a fast exchange and wallet where confirmations are in milliseconds. With NFTs and metaverses, it is imperative to increase power and speed to stay ahead of the market. One of the biggest and unique advantages of this Orion release is the ability to process up to 300k transactions per second at a cost of less than a penny.
The network is scalable and decentralized by running lots of decentralized nodes around the globe. The perfect ingredients to effectively power this metaverse, combining gaming experiences, NFT’s, and decentralized Finance (DeFi) to enable projects and users to benefit from the decentralized web 3.0.
Crossing both economies
On the functional side, we chose to expand the existing Ethereum architecture and integrate the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) mechanism to support existing Solidity smart contracts. Also, we extend it with aBFT and DAG consensus technologies. This gives NEXT Smart Chain the power to instantly execute thousands of existing fully backward-compatible tokens and smart contracts. It is our unwavering commitment to building a smart and safer digital economy.
In the coming period, we are going to create suistainable partnerships to bridge the traditional off-chain with the decentralized on-chain world. The mission objective is to link blockchain technology with the physical world. As smartphones and the internet have become commonplace, we envision a future where cryptocurrency, DeFi, and NFTs prove their use to the world and realize mass adoption. Our blockchain is accessible to all.
The native currency on the blockchain is called NEXT. It’s currently listed on UniSwap as an ERC20 token on Ethereum, but with the release of the Orion mainnet, we are going to create a bridge to NEXT Smart Chain so every holder of the token can swap 1:1: over to our network and stake or become a validator. We are also making the token widely available with more exchange listings, starting in March. The use case of NEXT will also grow by the day. Every new token or decentralized app will support NEXT and is paired with it. NEXT will become the cryptocurrency of choice in 2022.

- Onboarding of validators (25k NEXT + KYC required);

What is going to happen with the old NEXT.chain
In March 2022, our support for the old NEXT.chain will be discontinued. If the volume is insufficient, delisting can be done by P2PB2B. Otherwise, it will automatically delist if there is no volume. It will be a pure community-driven blockchain, until the master-nodes drop below the number of 3. In that case, no new blocks will be generated and the network will automatically stop. The source code will be released in the upcoming week on Github for those which want to develop further with this blockchain.
